Dear West Bend ,
This week the City entered its second week of Stage 3 of the Province of Ontario’s Reopening Plan. In response, City staff are working hard to safely and gradually reopen services and amenities for everyone to enjoy this summer.
Online reservation for lane swim and fitness centres The City has launched an online reservation option to enable people to conveniently book indoor lane swim at any of the City’s 29 indoor pool locations or a gym session at select City weight rooms and fitness centres. Fitness centres and weight rooms will reopen on August 17 and reservations can be made starting Thursdays at 7 am for the following week. Walk-ins are still accepted if space is available.
Forestry Community Stewardship Program Yesterday, the City resumed its Forestry Community Stewardship Program. The program involves hands-on work by volunteers to support and encourage native biodiversity in various ecologically sensitive sites across Toronto. Volunteer teams will begin stewardship activities by mid-August.
The program will be offered in a modified format to meet Public Health recommendations. More information is available on the City website (gordperks.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e13b1252c0c649074bca5b6e4&id=a7d202311a&e=382fa4aa2e) .
Modified Heat Relief Network The Heat Relief Network now features a wide array of cool spaces that are open during and beyond Heat Warnings. It includes pools, wading pools, splash pad and community centres. Therefore, the number of emergency cooling centres (ECCs) has been reduced. In our Ward, Masaryk-Cowan Community Recreation Centre continues to be open as one of the 4 ECCs in the City during heat warnings.
As more services become available and Toronto moves into a new normal, you can learn more about what to expect and what is required at toronto.ca/ReopenTO (gordperks.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e13b1252c0c649074bca5b6e4&id=c89f771921&e=382fa4aa2e) .
As always, feel free to email my office about any Ward 4 or City-related matter.
Sincerely, Gord
