About the WBCA

The West Bend Community Association works to foster a sense of community and to promote a happy, safe and healthy living environment.  The Association seeks participation from residents, local businesses, and any other parties that wish to be associated with the West Bend neighbourhood.

The WBCA is dedicated to improving the community within our area and the city of Toronto through active participation of WBCA members in neighbourhood projects and the life of the city.  The Association supports the City of Toronto’s official plan, identifies its own projects and seeks to co-ordinate its efforts with its Municipal Councillor.

The WBCA has been functioning for approximately 25 years, formerly under the name of the Dundas West Residents Association. It is recognized by the City of Toronto as a community organization and receives public notices of City initiatives affecting the area.

We are continually seeking to update our purpose and mandate.  Please feel free to contribute your thoughts below.

  1. I would like to join WBCA. I live(own) at 448 Indian Grove.

I am also VP of the West Toronto Lawn Bowling Club. We would like to link our updated web-site on the WBCA site.

I am also on the Board of the Four Villages Community Health Centre, which is on Bloor Street at Indian Grove, just east of the Tim Hortons. This is funded by the provincial government and would like to establish a connection with WBCA. (It has one with JRA).

Hope to hear from you soon,

  2. Hello West Bend Neighbours,

I received your name from Meri when I contacted Councillor Perk’s office. We appreciate you receiving this information on behalf of The West Bend neighbours and forwarding it, if necessary, to other decision makers.

This year, the City of Toronto has no plans to promote rain barrels at the ward level during their Environment Days. With City of Toronto downspout disconnect by-laws being phased in, and general downspout disconnect subsidies already ended, there really couldn’t be a better opportunity for non-profit organizations and residents in Toronto to benefit from a community rain barrel sale. Every rain barrel installed in your region will divert clean rain water from the sewer systems and help extend the life expectancy of wastewater plants at a tremendous savings to the city. Rain barrels also provide savings to homeowners where water meters are installed. There are very clear economic, social and environmental benefits to RainBarrel.ca’s program.

RainBarrel.ca has had the privilege of partnering to fundraise with non-profit organizations all over Ontario. We invite you to join us to help meet your organization’s fundraising goals through a truckload rain barrel sale in 2012. We are booking now for this spring and invite you to profit from online purchases happening now. In addition, we look forward to promoting your sale in our Ontario-wide media blitz in celebration of World Water Day which is scheduled for March 22, 2012.

    $3000+ Non-Profit Fundraising Opportunity

    ATTENTION: Fundraising Coordinators, Environmental Coordinators

Congratulations! By receiving and reviewing this information, you are taking the first step towards raising new funds for your organization. Rain barrels are proving to be very popular (we’ve sold over 23,000 with our non-profit partners), especially with homeowners who want to save money by reducing water bills. Rain barrels can be expensive; selling for $80 to $300 plus tax through local retail outlets. RainBarrel.ca fundraising initiatives significantly reduce the cost of rain barrels while raising funds for your organization. You will love this part; there is no need to buy anything upfront and no need to maintain inventory. If you can talk, email, distribute flyers that RainBarrel.ca provides for free and communicate the rain barrel sale opportunity within your community in other ways then your organization is guaranteed to earn a minimum of $10 per rain barrel. Approximately 300 rain barrels fit on a truck and at a profit of $10 each you will earn $3000, however a $15 or $20 profit margin would earn up to $6000.

How does the RainBarrel.ca fundraising program work?
Our organization partners begin by selecting a sale date, location and price to set a guaranteed profit margin per rain barrel sold. We provide tips on making the best decisions to maximize the profit earned by your organization.
RainBarrel.ca creates a unique webpage for your organization that explains why you are raising funds and that illustrates the products and prices related to your sale. Homeowners can place their orders online directly through the webpage. RainBarrel.ca accepts prepaid debit or credit card orders and cash orders to be paid once the rain barrels arrive. Phone orders are also acceptable.
Our non-profit partners begin promoting the sale in the local community. RainBarrel.ca’s how-to manual provides an extensive list of free promotional activities that have helped dozens of partners succeed in reaching their fundraising goals. We provide sample press releases, advertising templates and flyers that promote a monthly free rain barrel draw to direct customers to your rain barrel sale.
RainBarrel.ca provides weekly sales reports so you can track the success of your promotional efforts. We provide a detailed site plan and description of volunteer positions required to ensure a safe and efficient rain barrel sale event occurs. Just ahead of your truckload rain barrel sale, we provide detailed customer lists, sorted alphabetically to ensure a well-organized distribution event takes place.
RainBarrel.ca guarantees you will have 100% of your profit in hand within one week or less of the conclusion of your sale. Like many of our partners, your organization may want to discuss hosting a second profitable truckload rain barrel sale during the same season. Our truckload rain barrel sales work well as stand-alone fundraising events or can be easily added to your current fundraising events to benefit from the additional exposure.
