Pet Establishment Licensing
The City of Toronto is reviewing the business licensing and zoning rules for pet establishments that work with and/or keep live animals on their premises (for example, businesses that offer grooming, training, daycare, or the overnight boarding of animals).
Currently, the only pet-related businesses licensed by the City are pet shops. We are considering extending similar rules, and implementing new ones, for other pet-related businesses, many of which may operate in your neighbourhood. This would help establish clear standards for the care of animals, reduce nuisance issues such as noise and odour, and ensure consumer protection.
