Dear West Bend
This morning I was a part of a press conference (gordperks.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e13b1252c0c649074bca5b6e4&id=778abbfae9&e=382fa4aa2e) addressing Bill184 with my colleague Councillor Wong-Tam, MPP Suze Morrison the NDP’s Critic for Tenant Rights, Alyssa Brierley, Executive Director and General Counsel, Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodations (CERA), Chiara Pavodani, Executive Member, York South-Weston Tenant Union and Marva Burnett, President of ACORN Canada, to speak about Bill 184, the Protecting Tenants and Strengthening Community Housing Act, 2020.
Automated Speed Enforcement City Council has endorsed using speed cameras to help enforce the rules of the road and keep residents safe. The Government of Ontario approved regulations to allow municipalities to operate automated speed enforcement programs in December 2019. Ticketing was scheduled to start in April but was delayed due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Starting July 6, The City of Toronto’s 50 Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras began issuing tickets to speeding vehicles. The 50 cameras are installed city-wide on local, collector and arterial roads in Community Safety Zones near schools.
Outdoor Recreation Starting July 6, the City of Toronto’s outdoor sport and multi-use fields are open for team training and permits will be issued to organizations for the remainder of the 2020 summer season. Even though the fields are now open, pavilions, clubhouses, change areas and lockers will not be available for use, under provincial orders. More information about recreation in the city is available at toronto.ca/rec (gordperks.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e13b1252c0c649074bca5b6e4&id=ebce9a036f&e=382fa4aa2e) .
