Automated Speed Enforcement City Council has endorsed using speed cameras to help enforce the rules of the road and keep residents safe. The Government of Ontario approved regulations to allow municipalities to operate automated speed enforcement programs in December 2019. Ticketing was scheduled to start in April but was delayed due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Starting July 6, The City of Toronto’s 50 Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras began issuing tickets to speeding vehicles. The 50 cameras are installed city-wide on local, collector and arterial roads in Community Safety Zones near schools.
Outdoor Recreation Starting July 6, the City of Toronto’s outdoor sport and multi-use fields are open for team training and permits will be issued to organizations for the remainder of the 2020 summer season. Even though the fields are now open, pavilions, clubhouses, change areas and lockers will not be available for use, under provincial orders. More information about recreation in the city is available at toronto.ca/rec (gordperks.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e13b1252c0c649074bca5b6e4&id=ebce9a036f&e=382fa4aa2e) .
