Friends,
We are coming to a critical junction in Toronto’s civic life. It has to do with housing. In a month I expect City staff to announce a new 10 year housing plan for the City of Toronto. The problems of homeless and housing affordability not only extract a cruel toll on many of our friends and neighbours, they also threaten the entire social fabric of our City.
Two weeks ago a group over 30 organizations who work on housing issues put out an open letter which laid out what they hope to see in the plan. You can find it here: gordperks.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e13b1252c0c649074bca5b6e4&id=1e84aa3430&e=382fa4aa2e
I’d like you to take a read of the letter so that you will be in a position to judge whether the proposed plan measures up. I hope it will. If not, we will need to speak up. We can’t afford to get this wrong. Either way, I’ll be sure to alert you when the draft plan is released.
