Hello West Benders,
April (ice) showers! Due to the inclement weather, our Garden Clean-up planned for tomorrow will be postponed to next Sunday, April 22nd @ 10am.
There will be many Garden events this year. So we don’t flood everybody’s inbox with these many events, an email list has been setup for just those interested in upcoming gardening events in the West Bend. To be notified, click to update your list preferences, select the Garden checkbox and submit. Please take 10 seconds to sign up and be notified of upcoming Community Garden events.
Our next monthly meeting will take place this coming Wednesday, April 18th. It will be in the usual location, upstairs in the staff room at Indian Road Crescent Public School at 7pm. You do not need to be a member to attend our meetings — everybody is welcome and encouraged to attend!
This month we will have a special guest! As you may or may not be aware, the West Bend neighbourhood has been moved to a new municipal ward for the upcoming City of Toronto elections. We are now the easternmost neighbourhood of a ward that extends west to the Humber River, from Lake Ontario up to the rail line north of Dundas. Sarah Doucette, the current City Councillor for most of the area representing our new ward will attend to tell us more about our new Municipal home. This will include a discussion on any potential implications of us moving from Downtown to Etobicoke York Community Council.
Get a Free Tree! The Wanda Street Party and Tree For Me want to give you a free tree! Register at www.treeforme.ca by April 30th. Tree pick up and planting workshops will take place on June 9th at the annual Wanda Street Party.
